Primers
and Their Properties
Primers
are designed to provide adequate adhesion between the surface
and subsequent topcoats and is the first complete coat of paint
applied in a painting system. Most primers contain some pigment,
some lend uniformity to the topcoat, some inhibit corrosion of
the surface and others stop the discoloration of the topcoat.
Under wallcoverings, a primer, preferably an oil base is essential. |
