The color
of summer skies and mountain lakes, blue is always fresh and
appealing. Blue is a relatively broad color family, including
hues as varied as cornflower, cobalt and cerulean. Bright, breezy
blues please children, while less intense versions satisfy more
sophisticated tastes. Blue is the coolest of the cool colors,
begging for the company of warmer cohorts: robin's-egg blue is
pretty with pink; chambray is balanced by buttercup; navy is
enriched by maroon. Analogous blues and greens, once seldom paired,
are now popular together in spring and summer palettes. White
is a favorite partner for blue, especially in kitchens and bathrooms,
