There's
nothing like yellow to lift the spirits and lighten the mood.
Soft yellows (light-value, low-intensity hues), with names like
maize and taffy, are ideally suited to walls and furnishings,
where stronger colors might overwhelm. (Wallpaper and fabric
with soft yellow backgrounds are perennial favorites.) Pale yellow
marries well with soft blues, pinks and greens, even neutral
grays. Bold yellows and formal golds demand equally intense color
companions, such as royal blue, crimson red or primrose pink.
When paired with violet, its complement on the Color Ring, yellow
becomes regal; gentler versions, such as amethyst and butter
cream, say "spring." |
